From ‘Human Shop’ to Strategic Leader

I’m Amish Unalkat, a strategic advisor, keynote speaker, leadership coach, and the founder of several purpose-led initiatives. I work with people and businesses to unlock clarity, shift thinking, and drive tangible, long-lasting results.

My professional career began at EY, where I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with all first-time passes. Over the last 14 years, I’ve worked across Big Four consultancies and senior in-house roles, partnering directly with CEOs, founders, and boards to deliver performance improvement, culture change, and strategic growth.

However, my business journey started long before that back in school, where I was known as the “human shop”, selling everything from gadgets to snacks. I was fascinated by how businesses worked and more importantly, how they could work better. That curiosity shaped the way I now think and operate; translating complexity into clarity and insight into action.

Strategy, Performance and People

At EY, I delivered keynote sessions to over 300 new joiners. At KPMG, I presented to our London Senior Manager cohort across all service lines and launched and chaired the firm’s internal Innovation Platform leading a 20-person cross-functional team that achieved a 100% idea approval rate. In a more recent role, I hosted a value creation workshop for 50+ CEOs and leadership teams on behalf of a private holding group.
I’ve delivered over 50 speaking engagements across sectors from boardrooms to university halls, charity events to strategy offsites. My first public speech was at the age of seven, in front of 250 people. (Not my idea but it gave me a lifelong head-start in understanding how to read a room and hold attention).
I’ve also delivered stand-up comedy to 300 people and presented on platforms with global social media reach experiences that sharpened my delivery style, adaptability, and humour.
My work blends strategy with storytelling, commercial clarity with emotional intelligence, and ideas with real action. My style is personable and engageable. I will connect my audience. I see the real problem faster than most connecting dots others miss and I help translate that into outcomes leaders understand.

Business with Purpose

Alongside my advisory and corporate career, I’m a self-taught property investor from the age of 23 with a portfolio across London and Dubai, blending commercial thinking with long-term perspective.

Outside of work, I pride myself on philanthropy work and have founded YouInspire — the aim to inspire and spread positivity. I started an annual initiative in 2021 that has grown from a single food drive into a movement of over 250 supporters, helping the homeless, shelters and low-income families. It’s a project driven by kindness, logistics, and leadership — and it continues to grow year-on-year and has had tremendous support from my network to date.

In 2024, I was honoured to be named in the Top 50 Kindness & Leadership Awards, recognising a blend of impact, authenticity, and positive influence in business and community.
